Jessica Yoon at Midsummer Books March 6, 2026

Jessica Yoon is the Author of the new picture books Jeong is Jeong

Every once in a while, a picture book arrives that reminds us to slow down and be present with the ones we love. The beautiful new picture book Jeong Is Jeong is exactly that kind of story.

We’re honored that author Jessica Yoon stopped by our shop for a special storytime celebrating her newest release, a lyrical picture book about connection, care, and the quiet ways we show up for one another. Jessica is a Korean American children’s author who draws from her own cross-cultural experiences and advocates for representation in children’s literature.

About the Book: Jeong is Jeong

“What is jeong?” a young girl asks her grandmother. This question unfolds a journey about kindness, family, and understanding across languages and cultures.

The story follows Luna as she begins to recognize that some words can mean more than a simple explanation - they hold feelings, share memories, and create connections. Through everyday acts of care, Luna discovers a concept rooted in the belief that people are deeply connected and look out for one another.

Stories like this stay with kids long after the last page.
