At Midsummer Books, we believe stories are more powerful when they’re shared. That’s why we’re so excited to launch our new book clubs for middle grade and young adult readers!

Why join a book club?

Reading sparks imagination, builds confidence, and connects you to the experiences of others. Research shows that kids who read for fun are not only more successful academically but also develop stronger empathy and communication skills. Book clubs help encourage reading for pleasure, building these essential habits by giving kids a space to:

  • Talk about what they’re reading and hear new perspectives

  • Make reading social and fun instead of “just homework”

  • Discover books they might not pick up on their own

  • Build lifelong friendships and a lasting love of literature

Our vision for Midsummer book clubs kids

For 2025 we are launching two book clubs:

  • Middle Grade Mayhem (ages 8–12): A monthly gathering with a featured book, a themed craft or game, collectible bookmarks, and activities that bring the story to life.

  • YA Book Club (ages 13+): A monthly meetup for teens, featuring thought-provoking books, creative activities tied to the story, and conversation that goes beyond the page.

Each club includes a copy of the month’s book plus the extras (bookmark, craft, activity) to make the experience memorable.

Clubs will meet monthly starting this fall. Once we have enough signups for each age group, we’ll send a final confirmation so students can get their books and start reading ahead of the first meeting. Currently we are planning to run book clubs on Tuesdays beginning in October, but please let us know if there is a better day for your family.

Sign up today to reserve your spot!

Each club is designed to be engaging, fun, and accessible, whether your reader is a bookworm or just discovering the joy of reading.

We can’t wait to bring the community together through stories, creativity, and connection. Thank you for supporting Midsummer Books in building a joyful reading culture for kids and teens!
