September 6 is National Read a Book Day, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than by hosting another pop-up bookstore in Fishtown with hundreds of ready-to-read titles for kids of all ages.
Here’s what’s new at Midsummer Books this weekend:
Celebrate National Read a Book Day With Us
National Read a Book Day is the perfect reminder of why we do what we do, helping families discover amazing stories, encourage creativity, and make reading a daily joy. The "holiday" is celebrated annually on Sept 6 to remind us all of the simple joy of reading.
Fun fact: I got out of the habit of reading for a while after the kids were born. Life was hectic, someone was always sick or needing "mom." Books sat on the shelf, gathering dust. But then when the dust of new motherhood cleared, I went back to books and slowly but surely picked my reading habit back up.
All that is to say, even if it's been a while, the books that have been waiting on your shelf are still there for you with new worlds to explore. Anyway, back to the marketing...
Book bundles and starter kits just in timefor National Read a Book Day
Shopping for older kids and teens is tough. A lot of the time they are too old for toys, or the gifts they want are super expensive (thanks a lot Nintendo!). With school back in session and birthday party invites already piling up, we thought we would take some of the frustration out of gifting with our Creative Kids Bundles and "New Genre" Starter Kits.
Each bundle includes two gently used books plus creative extras like notebooks, pens, handmade stickers, and bookmarks. Bundles are available for every age group, from beginning readers to teens. And we have a few selections for kids who are just starting out with reading and writing, as well as those who want to break into a new genre. Customization is available, so you can make each gift as unique as the reader you’re shopping for. Right now bundles are only available during our pop-ups but if you want a specially curated one, you can always reach out to Lindsay@midsummerbooks.com between events.

Book Club Sign-Ups - Now through Sept 20
In October, we are hosting our Book Clubs for kids and teens! Clubs are a great way for young readers to connect with others their age, discover new stories, and build a lifelong love of reading. We've tentatively scheduled our first book clubs and book selections, but will be keeping the door open for sign ups until Sept 20 to make sure we have enough readers in each group to make for an engaging conversation.
Stop by the pop-up to sign up — or sign up here.
Our next Midsummer Books pop-up is happening Saturday at 1219 Frankford Ave (our future home!) from 11–7.
We can’t wait to see you there. Let’s celebrate National Read a Book Day together with stories, community, and creativity.
