Bonebag Author Event at Midsummer Books
Do your kids like spooky stories? Weird little creatures? Mild emotional damage? Excellent. We have an event for you.
Join us at Midsummer Books on Friday, June 5 for an evening with *Bonebag* authors David Elliott and E. M. Elliott. We will have all the usual: reading, Q&A, signing, plus a collaborative “story chain” activity where we all slowly descend into collective literary chaos together.
This is the kind of event designed for kids who read under the covers with a flashlight and parents who spent the entire 90s saying “I probably shouldn’t have watched that movie that young.”

About Bonebag
Bonebag is spooky, strange, and deeply committed to the art of making children gleefully uncomfortable in the best possible way. It’s packed with monsters, mystery, dark humor, bizarre adventures, and the kind of atmospheric creepiness that makes a kid say, “Wait… read that part again.”
It’s perfect for readers who love:
-
creepy forests
-
oddball heroes
-
dangerous quests
-
things in jars
-
dramatic ravens
-
books that feel like a dare
Best For Ages 9–13, specifically…
-
Kids ready to level up from “slightly spooky” to “I’m sleeping with the hallway light on but in a fun way”
-
Fans of *Coraline*, *Series of Unfortunate Events*, *Small Spaces*, and strange middle grade fantasy in general
-
Future goths
-
Theater kids

About the Authors
David Elliott is a New York Times bestselling author with approximately one million awards and starred reviews because apparently he enjoys overachieving. His books include *Bull*, *Voices*, *Baabwa and Wooliam*, the *This Orq* series, and acclaimed poetry collections like *In the Woods* and *On the Farm*. Basically: if you’ve wandered into a really good children’s book section lately, you’ve probably seen his work.
E. M. Elliott studied film and creative writing, worked as a script reader in Los Angeles, and now lives in Philadelphia with his family. *Bonebag* is his first book, which frankly feels rude considering how good it is.
