About the event

Oceans connect communities across the globe. This week we'll explore how foods, traditions, and cultures travel between countries, shaping the stories people tell and the lives they lead.

Featured Book: Everybody Cooks Rice by Norah Dooley

As Carrie searches for her brother, she discovers families from many different cultures preparing rice in unique ways. The story highlights how a familiar food can connect people across languages, backgrounds, and traditions.

Featured Activity: Community Ocean Map

Working together, readers create a giant collaborative map connecting foods, traditions, families, and places around the world while tracing the journeys that bring people and cultures together.
